Color & Light in Provence® /
Couleur et Lumière en Provence®

Learn the approach to outdoor landscape painting that Claude Monet used to create his impressionistic masterpieces, while experiencing the magic of painting in Provence! Paint the natural beauties of the Vaucluse including its luxurious lavender fields.

About the Instructor: Angela Manno is an internationally exhibited artist and experienced teacher who has taught out of her studios in Colorado and in Provence, France. Angela studied with instructors trained at the Cape Cod School of Art in Provincetown, MA, in a technique which has been handed down from teacher to student, beginning with Charles Hawthorne, a contemporary of Monet who taught the Master's painting technique.

Workshops will begin with introductions and a demonstration. Class sessions will take place each morning and afternoon over a five day period. Students will learn how to simplify the landscape into basic masses and to develop the ability to see the full spectrum of color, going beyond value changes. Students will also learn to capture the full effect of light in painting and how to depict volume and perspective through color relationships.
